I typically introduce myself as follows:

I’m a bookbinder, book artist, educator and dabbler in all things crafty!

And it’s true… I’m pretty well a jack-of-all trades.  I don’t think there is a craft or a technique that I haven’t tried.

Academically, I earned a MSc in textiles, and spent over 30 years in the apparel industry.  My undergraduate degree was in Education, so it makes perfect sense that the final 14 years of my professional career was spent as a professor of textiles.  The circle was now complete.

“As a child, scissors, paper, and glue were my constant companions; and, the Crayola© box was never far from my side!

In 2005, I stumbled upon a website that forever changed the trajectory of my life – the Canadian Bookbinders and Book Artists Guild (CBBAG).  I signed up for my first bookbinding workshop and have never looked back!

After having worked through the core curriculum (BB1, BB2, BB3, Finishing, Paper Conservation & Treatments, and Restoration & Repair), I was so proud to have earned my Certificate of Completion in 2010!

Since then, I have taken nearly every workshop that CBBAG has to offer; I have become one of their in-studio instructors (core courses & book-arts workshops); and in 2017, I became their mentor for CBBAG Home Study.

During the COVID pandemic, I worked in conjunction with Kari Bronaugh to refresh the CBBAG Home Study Program as an on-line offering.  Virtual BB1 was launched in 2021 and we have been thrilled by the favourable response.
